We’re thrilled to announce I.F. Gallery’s debut at Osaka International Art 2025, an international art fair that is held in conjunction with Expo 2025, with aims to foster cultural and economic exchange through art.
We will present a curated showcase of two contemporary artists from two different regions, where one contemplates the infinite through ink, and the other interrogates identity through stone.
ALLISON LIU’s ink and color works reimagine the classical shanshui (山水) tradition through a contemporary lens. Her paintings transcend literal mountain-water depictions, and instead explore the philosophical essence of landscape through compositions that oscillate between structure and abstraction.
Liu's works have been featured in prestigious exhibitions such as the Beijing International Ink Painting Invitational Exhibition (celebrating China’s 70th anniversary), Singapore’s National Day Exhibitions, and solo presentations at Art Stage Singapore and the Singapore Yachting Festival. Her collector base spans ASEAN, Greater China, Japan, Europe, and North America, reflecting the global resonance of her cross-cultural approach.
R E M A’s practice explores identity, marginalization, and the duality of femininity through a personal lens. Initially integrating her self-image, marked by distinctive external characteristics such as make-up, her work confronted societal prejudices tied to sexuality and self-expression. Since 2020, her focus has shifted toward abstraction, channeling these experiences into the evocative theme of Femininity and Shadow, where premonitions and daydreams manifest in delicate drawings and engraved imagery.
Central to R E M A’s work is the interplay between permanence and transience. She engraves or burns human figures into organic materials—plants, sand, stone, and water—media that evolve over time while retaining their core essence. These etched images merge seamlessly with their substrates, as if unearthed from memory, evoking a sense of primal nostalgia and timeless presence.
